Glan-y-Mor, The Knap, Barry
Martin sadly passed away unexpectedly on 14th July 2014. He was at Glan-y-Mor from 1973-4, retaining solid friendships from those days until the end.
After leaving UWIST he built up an increasingly large network of friends, arranging annual walking holidays, mostly in Scotland, the final trip being in 1996. As a homage to him, since the year of his death, the same group has met annually for weekend walks, and this is set to continue indefinitely.
Mary, much loved by all, died peacefully on the morning of 10th September 2013
Her funeral was held on Saturday 28th September in Swansea. Kathy Godfrey (Aley) and Martin Terry flew the flag for Glan-y-Mor. Two tributes were made by close friends who reminded everyone of her delightful laughter which could light up a room, her love of travel and what a great and loyal friend she was to everyone who knew her. The chapel was full, there was probably more than a hundred people there. Mary would have loved to have had so many people gathered in one room. It was a wonderful tribute to her.
2.4.14: Many thanks to all that bought the CDRom of all the Glan-y-Mor pics and to all those also donated money. We raised £300 (no deductions for costs were made) which we sent with a letter to Mary Lewis' mum Phyllis. The cheque was payable to Welsh Air Ambulance in memory of Mary. We have had a very kind card of thanks from the Lewis family.
